Irregular verbs don't add -ed in the past simple. You have to learn them: go → went, eat → ate, see → saw, buy → bought.

In negative sentences and questions we use didn't / did + the base form: I didn't go. Did you see it?

Last Saturday, Emma went to the zoo with her class. They took the bus at nine o'clock. First, they saw the lions and the elephants. Then they ate sandwiches in the park. Emma bought a postcard for her grandmother. She didn't see the penguins because they were inside. She came home very tired but happy.
