Shopping phrases - Inglés 6º Primaria

6.º Primaria · Inglés · 11-12 años · 20 min
Vamos de compras: lee un diálogo en una tienda de ropa, calcula ofertas y practica frases educadas en inglés.

Polite phrases: Could I have…, please? Can I try it on? Have you got it in a bigger size? Can I pay by card?

Use much with prices and things we can't count (How much is it?) and many with things we can count (How many apples?). Too + adjective means «more than you want» (too expensive) and enough means «as much as you need» (enough money).

When you pay, the shop assistant gives you your change (el cambio) and a receipt (el tique). Offers: 25% off = 25 % más barato; half price = a mitad de precio; buy 2, get 1 free = pagas 2 y te llevas 3.

Shop assistant: Hello! Can I help you?

Ruby: Yes, please. I'm looking for a hoodie for my brother. He's thirteen.

Shop assistant: What size is he?

Ruby: Medium, I think. How much is this grey one?

Shop assistant: It was thirty pounds, but it's in the sale this week, so now it's twenty-four.

Ruby: Great! Could I try on a small one for me too?

Shop assistant: Of course. The changing rooms are over there.

Ruby: It fits perfectly. I'll take both. Can I pay by card?

Shop assistant: Yes, of course. Here's your receipt. If your brother doesn't like his hoodie, he can change it within 28 days, but you need the receipt.
